Central Illinois Protests Against the Iraq War Continue, Second in a Month.
Bloomington, Illinois - On May 19, 2007, members of the Bloomington-Normal Citizens for Peace & Justice (BNCPJ) organization along with other members of the community gathered in front of the Bloomington Post Office on Towanda Road to protest the war in Iraq. Since classes at the two area Universities ended in early May, most of the students had left the area and the majority of this group of protesters were older but one thing certainly didn't change and that is the fact that we want our soldiers brought home! The people who attended the rally aren't radicals or extremists. They are (or could be) your next door neighbors. They are smart, educated, and tired of government lies AND they are sick of this war.
One of the most rewarding things about these rallies is finding that you aren't alone and that there really is community support. Lots of people drove by and honked for peace or drove by and waved; giving a big thumbs up and some people drove by and flew a peace sign at us. A notice regarding this protest was published in the Bloomington-Normal Pantagraph newspaper.
This turned out to be a really fun rally and as far as this site is concerned, the Bloomington/Normal Citizens For Peace and Justice are the Bloomington/Normal Uberkewl Citizens For Peace And Justice! PEACE!
